Richard "Rick D" D'Innocenzio
Richard "Rick D" D'Innocenzio set his spirit free in Maui on April 5. Born on June 5, 1978, Rick searched for happiness and hope for a better life in the beautiful surroundings of Hawaii since 2008. In Hawaii you hear "Aloha" all the time. Its meaning is diverse: Hello, Love, Affection. Sadly, it also means Goodbye. For all of us who love Rick, that is his final word to us.
In childhood photographs Rick was often seen with his arm around his younger brother, Robert or a beloved friend. He had many wonderful qualities and talents: his ability to make others laugh, his touching concern for lost dogs and the homeless. He was happiest while immersed in music, writing songs and poetry, and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed going to Union Square to play chess, cook gourmet quality meals, travel, reading and attending concerts.
One of Rick's favorite musician was Bob Dylan. He related to his lyrics because sadness was a sentiment that imprisoned him. "Life is Hard" expresses so many of his thoughts.
"The evening winds are still I've lost the way and will.
Every since that day, The day you went away
I felt that emptiness so wide I don't know what's wrong or right
I just know I need strength to fight. I passed the old schoolyard
Admitting life is hard Without you near me."
Bob Dylan
Rick had a "Heart of Gold" His journey through this world is over. To brighten his memory, Rick would want all of his cherished family and friends, here and in Hawaii, to always seek the light of hope.
In lieu of flowers, donations on line to www.adaa.org, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) in Richard's name would be appreciated.
