Richard  D. Genevrino  85, of Springfield passed away on Wednesday July 6, 2016 at home. The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue Union, on Friday at 11:00 am. The funeral mass will be in St. James Church  in Springfield at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Teresa Cemetery in Summit. Visitation will be on Friday from 10- 11am.

Born in Nutley he lived in Newark, from 1954-1982 and then moved to Springfield and lived there for the last 34 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Marine Corps. from 1952-1954 attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was employed as a foreman for Liberty Optical in Newark from 1956 - 2014.

Richard was the husband of Josephine  (nee Di Chiara) and is the father of JoAnn  Sarracino and her husband Bruno, and the late Richard Genevrino.  He is also the brother of William Genevrino and his wife Cynthia, the  brother in law  of  Patricia Genevrino, and Rolf Beer. and he was predeceased by his other siblings, Marion Mariano and her husband Louis, Jean Ciccarella and her husband Samuel, Alice Lanza and her husband Charles, Anthony Genevrino, and Viola Beer. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren Jennifer, and Angela Sarracino
