In Loving Memory of Richard Roman Granziel Jr.
July 7, 1955 – April 2, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Roman Granziel Jr. on April 2, 2025, at the age of 69.Richard was a kind, honest, and deeply resilient man who faced life with quiet strength and unwavering determination. Diagnosed with epilepsy at a young age, he met each day with courage, doing his best to live fully despite the challenges his condition brought. He graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science degree and later pursued his master’s at Columbia University. Though his health ultimately shifted the course of his career, Richard never stopped striving to support and care for those he loved. He found purpose in everyday moments—cooking, maintaining the home, tending to the yard, and spending time with his family.Richard was a man who appreciated life’s simple pleasures. He was happiest enjoying a slice of sausage pizza, an Italian sub with Russian dressing, vanilla ice cream, a trip to the boardwalk, or a quiet day at the beach. He didn’t chase material things; instead, he focused on what mattered most: love, presence, and family. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Recently described by a childhood friend as a “happy giant,” Richard was gentle, thoughtful, and sincere. He lived not to impress, but to uplift—always choosing kindness over ego.Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Elizabeth, whose selfless love and care stood as a true testament of commitment and compassion. He is also survived by his son, Richard Jonathan, who carries forward his father’s strength, love, and values; and by his brother, Jon.He now joins his beloved parents, Richard and Anna, as well as his fur baby Noel and other family members close to his heart who passed before him. Though his life was not without hardship, Richard gave it his all. He now rests peacefully—free from medication, appointments, and the weight of illness. May he roam freely and joyfully, reunited with those he loved.
