Richard L. Querques, Sr., 73, of Union, NJ departed this life on June 19, 2021 at home, surrounded by his family. Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation for Rich at the Galante Funeral Home at 2800 Morris Avenue in Union, NJ on June 22, 2021 between 10:00am and 12:00pm with funeral service immediately following.
Rich was born November 10, 1947 to Salvatore and Josephine (née Itri). He was raised in Springfield, NJ and graduated from Jonathan Dayton High School in 1966. He worked for Carpenter Technology Corp., formerly of Union, NJ for 19 years and Breeze Eastern of Whippany, NJ for 27 years before retiring in 2014. He married his beloved wife of 52 years, Antoinette (née DiSarro) in 1969 before settling in Union in 1971.
Rich had many interests and hobbies, including model trains and other collectibles, but he was always happiest tinkering with cars in his beloved, immaculately organized garage. He was a loyal friend and a true people person. When new families moved into the neighborhood, Rich was usually the first to welcome the newcomers and introduce himself.
Anyone who knew Rich well knew of his obsession with junk food, especially 3 Musketeers bars, Swedish Fish, pizza, and Wild Cherry Pepsi.
In his later years, Parkinson's Disease robbed him of his stamina and mobility, but not of his spirit or sense of humor. He was always ready with a corny joke or funny story to brighten the day.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Anissa Gorka. He leaves behind his loving wife, Antoinette, son Ricky Jr., son in law Jeffrey Trost, son Dennis(Kathy), grandson Anthony, sister Sally Auriemma(Frank) and his faithful dog, Luna.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help fund Parkinson's research.
