Robert “Bob” Iannuzzi, 61, originally of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023 at the VA Community Living Center in Orlando, Florida after a long battle with cancer.
Bob was born on September 2, 1962 to Vincent Eugene and Kathleen Mary Iannuzzi in East Orange, NJ. Before Bob even graduated from Union High School, he went on to serve in the United States Navy. He returned home after basic military training to collect his diploma.
After serving in the Navy for an enlistment, he started a career of carpentry and general construction with skills handed down to him by his late father, kick-starting a career of 20+ years in steel erection. Bob was the hardest worker many of his family and friends had ever known.
In 1976, Bob met Patrice Masi at Friberger Park in Union, NJ while standing atop a gazeebo. He and Patrice went on to have two children together, Robert Nicholas and Michelle Megan. In addition, Bob was a loving step-father to Alexandra whom he adored for like his own daughter. In his later years Bob was an incredible grandfather to four vibrant grandkids, whom all loved him deeply.
Bob was a great man who loved everyone. He made a profound impact on the lives of so many people and routinely helped anyone in need, whether it be through his work, friendship, mentorship, or companionship. He saw the good in everyone and encouraged others to do the same. Bob was an avid fan of movies and a keeper of endless knowledge related to the topic, history, and the state of New Jersey and its prolific list of inhabitants. Bob also had an affinity for what he considered to be the greatest city in the world, New York City. He worked for many years in the city and considered it his home away from home.
In 2023 Bob reluctantly retired due to his illness and spent his remaining time visiting with his ex-wife, children, grandchildren, siblings and close friends.
Bob was predeceased by his mother and father, Kathleen and Vincent; and by his brother, James Patrick. He is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Patrice; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lauren Iannuzzi, and their children, Brielle, Andrew, and Liam; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Iannuzzi and Jessie Pagano, and their son, Bradley. As well as his brother and sister in-law, Michael and Rory Iannuzzi, their son Derek; sister and brother in-law, Carole Anne and John Strapp, and their sons Ryan and Connor.
Services will be held at Galante Funeral Home at 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083 on Sunday October 22, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Disabled American Veterans Fund (DAV) an organization close to Bob’s heart.
