Romeo C. Ponce

Romeo C. Ponce, 82 of Union, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025.

Born in Bolinao, Philippines, Romeo dedicated his career to the medical field, working as a medical scientist at Bayonne Hospital for many years before retiring in 2016.

Romeo was a man of many passions—an avid gardener who found joy in nurturing life, a devoted member of the St. Michael Church choral group, and a man who loved to sing. He spent 40 years in Bayonne before moving to Union, where he continued to cherish time with his family and friends.

Romeo is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Aguilucho; his son, Jerome Ponce, and his wife, Joanne; his daughter, Charmaine Thomas, and her husband, Jason; his sister, Lourdes Galvez; and his cherished grandchildren, Emma, Chloe, Hannah, Owen, Autumn, Sofia, and Micha. Romeo was predeceased by his late wife, Enid Ponce; his daughter, Michelle Ponce; and his brother-in-law, Romeo.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave, Union, NJ, on Friday, February 28, from 4 to 8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 11:15 AM at St. Michael’s Church in Union. Those attending mass are asked to meet directly at church. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
