Ronald J. Peake, 90, of Union, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2022 at Overlook Hospital, with his family at his side. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Ron rose from challenging childhood circumstances and joined the United States Air Force at a young age to serve his country in the Korean War. After the war, he met the love of his life, Josephine, at a dance in Newark and they married in 1956. Their love story lasted 63 years until her passing in 2020.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Ronald on Sunday, September 11, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 5:30 PM. Cremation will be held privately. Entombment of his urn with military honors will be on Friday, September 16, at 1:00 pm at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
Ron was a loyal employee of PSE&G for 36 years, working as a lineman and then promoted to supervisor, until his retirement in 1990.
An avid golfer, NY Mets and NY Giants fan, Ron was a member of the Union Runner's Club and exercised until his passing. He also loved crossword puzzles, and went to night school to learn auto mechanics and calligraphy.
Ron loved his life as a family man. Everything he did was for his family, and with his beloved "Josie", built a happy and loving life with their children. His smile lit up the room and when asked how he was doing, his response was always the same--"Excellent".
Ron leaves behind his devoted children, Pamela Warner and her husband Gil and Ronald Peake, Jr., along with cherished cousins, Deborah Nobile, and her husband Phil, and Michele Mannino, her husband Steve, and their children, Christopher and Julia. Ron was predeceased by his brothers, Frank Peake, Andrew Peake, and Thomas Payeski.
