Rosario Alberto 71, of Springfield died on Thursday May 5, 2016, in St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union, on Tuesday at 8:30 am. The funeral mass will be in St. James Church in Springfield at 10 am. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 - 8 pm.

Born in San Pietro Magisano, Italy, he lived in East Orange before moving to Springfield 25 years ago. He was an Operating Engineer for Seton Hall University in South Orange for 38 years, until he retired 6 years ago.

Rosario was married to his wife Maria G. (nee DeFalco) Alberto for 42 years. He is the father of Francesco Alberto and his wife Elissa, and Raffaele G. Alberto and his wife Annette. He is also the brother of Rosa Cibellis, Anna Manilio, Pietro, and Antonio Alberto, as well as the grandfather of Nicholas John, and Matthew Rosario Alberto.
