Rosemarie Guarino Baker, 94, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024. She was born June 19, 1929 in Newark, NJ to the late Frank Guarino and late Rose Ciccone. She married in 1966 to John A. Baker who predeceased her in 2016.
Rosemarie dedicated her life to nursing and caregiving both professionally and personally. She graduated from Orange Memorial School of Nursing in 1950. While she was Supervisor of the Operating Room at Orange Memorial she attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where she received her Bachelor of Science in 1956. She sustained her position at Orange Memorial for 47 years until its’ closing in December 7, 2003. She was the Director of Nurses at Orange Memorial and was the representative of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. She continued her career at East Orange General and later at the North Jersey Surgery Center in Englewood Cliffs until the age of 91.
Rosemarie was dedicated to her profession, her staff, her patients, her family and her friends. She was a pioneer and instrumental in the advancement of the nursing community demonstrating selfless, loving, caring attendance to all in need of her services. During her career she received countless awards and recognition for her devotion to nursing.
The 12th of 13 children, she is survived by her sister, Florence Postighone, brother Dr. Richard A. Guarino, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.
Rosemarie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and compassion.
A funeral Mass will be held for Rosemarie at St. Aloysius Parish in Caldwell, NJ on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 9:00 am.
