Russell Amato, 81 of Union passed away on January 1, 2015 at home.

Funeral services will be from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park. Visitation is on Friday from 3-7 PM.

Born in Sicily, Russell lived in Paterson, Newark and Union for the past 37 years. He worked for the International Textile Printing Co., Paterson for 40 years, and also the Scotch Plains School System for 12 years.

Russell was the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Amato) for 58 years. Loving father of Vincent Amato and his wife Susan, Sara Diana and her late husband David Diana, Sr., and Angela Klopfer and her husband Charles. He was the brother of Christopher Amato, Josephine Cerrato and Mary Nicosia. He is also survived by his grandchildren David Diana, Jr., Amy Diana, Vincent Amato, Stefanie Hendrie, Angela Gilani, Michael Amato, Christopher Klopfer and Maggie Klopfer; and by his great-grandchildren David Diana III, Dylan Diana and Jackson Diana.
