Salvatore   R. Landisi 95, of Union passed away on Tuesday September 3 rd , 2013 at Cranford Health & Extended Care Center in Cranford.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Saturday at 9 am. The funeral mass is at St. Michael Church in Union at 10:15 am. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Visitation is on Friday from 3 - 7 pm.

Born in Newark he lived in Union for 58 years. He was a buyer and division manager for Sears, first in Newark, and then later in Watchung for 38 years until he retired 30 years ago.

An avid lifelong baseball fan He played for the Newark Dukes baseball team for 10 years. He also published a book called “When Time Stood Still”, which recounted his years with the team.

Salvatore was married to his late wife Josephine (nee Nicosia) Landisi for 54 years until she died in 1998. He is the father of Linda Messner and her husband Leonard, and Lorraine Landisi, and is the brother of the late Angelina Abbate, John, and Rocco Landisi, as well as the grandfather of Heather and Eric and the great grandfather Tyler and Chloe.
