Salvatore J. Sansone, a lifelong Linden resident, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2019 at Center for Hope Hospice in Elizabeth. He was 94 years old.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation for Salvatore at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Thursday July 18 from 9 - 11 AM. A Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John the Apostle in Linden at 11:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Salvatore was born in Linden to the late Vincenza and Enoch Sansone on April 12, 1925. Salvatore was a proud veteran of the Korean War, and received the Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, and the U.N. Service Medal during his faithful service.
Salvatore was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Apostle Church in Linden. A member of many clubs and organizations, he was very involved in the Linden Senior Citizens, Tremley Point Center, and the VFW.
Salvatore worked at Allen Industries in Rahway as a press operator, then for the City of Linden. Finally, he worked as a lab service technician, and retired from Merck & Co. in 1988 after 15 years with the company.
Salvatore was the beloved husband of 65 years to Palma (nee Sorbera) Sansone. He was the devoted father of Donna Sansone and Linda Kaspar and her husband Steven. He was the cherished grandfather of Nicole Kaspar-Ezell and her husband Jeremy. He is also survived by his sister Rose Venitelli, and by many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Marion Peters.
