Salvatore Zotti
Salvatore Zotti, 82, of Springfield, NJ died on October 23, 2012 after an extended illness. Mr. Zotti is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosa Zotti (nee Morico), his three children, Maria Genova and her husband Bruno Genova, Esq., Gioacchino (“Jack”) Zotti and his wife Linda, Mina Conte and her husband Sal Conte, five grandchildren, Juliana Genova, Jacqueline Genova, Alessandro Conte, Sofia Zotti, Salvatore Zotti, three sisters, Concetta Centamore, Angelina Apicella, GiuseppinaTizzano, his brother Luigi Zotti and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Zotti was born on January 9, 1930 in Paupisi, in the Province of Benevento, Italy. He emigrated to the United States with his family in 1966 at the age of 36. He was employed by the Summit Board of Education from which he retired after 27 years.
Mr. Zotti was an accomplished gardener and had been recognized over the years for his remarkable “green thumb” and his extraordinary ability to graft different species of fruit trees, including pear, peach, plum and fig trees, all of which were grown in his backyard. He maintained an envious vegetable garden, and took great pride in the variety of flowers and plants which he planted and cared for outside his home. He also enjoyed making annually his own homemade red wine which became a fond tradition for his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Zotti was also a self-taught accordion player who shared his gift of music before a number of charitable organizations and frequently, at large family gatherings.
Viewing will take place on Friday, October 26th, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Galante Funeral Home, Morris Avenue in Union, NJ. A Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27th, at our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mountainside, NJ followed by a burial at Fairview Cemetery, in Westfield, NJ.
