Samuel “Sam” Mastroeni

Beloved husband, father and grandfather

The world has lost the most wonderful man who has ever lived. He has joined God in heaven and is at eternal peace.

Samuel Mastroeni, 66 of West Caldwell, NJ (formally of Roseland) passed away peacefully on Sunday July 14, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

His funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 54 Roseland Ave Caldwell on Wednesday at 8:30AM.  The Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland at 10AM. Visitation is on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM

Mr. Mastroeni was born in Newark, NJ to the late Joseph and Ida Mastroeni.

Samuel graduated from Irvington Technical High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Samuel leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Geri (nee Maillaro) and three devoted children.

Joseph Mastroeni and his partner Warren Tan of Colts Neck, NJ. Danielle Perillo and her husband William of Livingston, NJ. and Michael Mastroeni and his wife Maren of Springfield, NJ. In addition, Sam leaves behind his cherished and loving grandchildren Samantha, Nicola, and Salvatore Perillo and Lola Mastroeni.

Mr. Mastroeni also leaves his loving siblings, Jo Ann Mulholland of Waretown,NJ ;Anthony of Nutley, NJ and Karen Redvanly and her husband Kevin of East Hanover. Also his loyal in-laws Guy and Patricia Maillaro of Las Vegas, NV. Robert and Dolores Rapa of West Caldwell,NJ who lovingly helped care for him in their home.

Mr. Mastroeni was a manager in the retail furniture business for 44 years. He was a dedicated and loyal employee.

To have known Sam was to love him. He had an infectious laugh and terrific sense of humor. Sam always saw the good in everyone. Throughout his illness, Sam’s bravery was extraordinary. His loss is unmeasurable.

A very special “Thank You” to his loving niece Dolores Maya whom he called “His heavenly nurse on earth.” Mrs. Maya worked daily to care for her Uncle Sam at this most difficult time. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and love for her.
