Samuel F. Uzzolino

Samuel F. Uzzolino  85, of Manchester, died on Monday January 13, 2014, at Community Medical Center in Toms River.

The memorial service will be in the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue Union, on Friday at 6 pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home from 4:30 - 7:30 pm.

Born in Newark he lived in Maplewood, before moving to Manchester 12 years ago. He was a budget analyst for the Newark Board of Education for 32 years before retiring in 1978,  He was responsible for organizing the first Mid Management Union recognized by the State of N.J. serving as their first President in 1978.  He also was a self employed Income Tax Consultant for the last 55 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War, and He was a lifetime member of the American Legion post # 140 in Millburn, a 50 year member of the Springfield / Hillside  Elks Club in Springfield, and also a member and former President  of the Casa Colombo Italian American Club in Millburn.

Sam was married to his late wife Agnes (nee Rizzolo) for 41 years. he is the father of Frank Uzzolino, Robert Uzzolino and his wife Patty, and Valerie Imperial and her husband Andrew. He was also the brother of Frank Uzzolino and his wife Joan, the late Anthony Uzzolino, and is the brother in law of Vicky Uzzolino, as well as the grandfather of Kara, Erika, and Samantha. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers that
