Saverio “Sam” Sciancalepore
January 7, 1949 - April 24, 2022
As a beloved brother, uncle and friend Saverio Sciancalepore will be missed by many. Sam, as he was known by all who loved him, passed away on April 24, 2022. Saverio moved to Hoboken, N.J, after emigrating from Molfetta, Italy at the age of 5. He made Hoboken his home, and was a lifelong resident. A veteran of the United States Army, Sam served during the Vietnam War. Sam returned home from his service and was a dedicated employee for a coat factory located in Hoboken, until its closure. Sam then served his beloved Hoboken where he worked for the Hoboken Department of Sanitation for 20 years, until his retirement in March, 2022. While working for the town Sam greeted many with his loving heart and kind smile. Uncle Sam loved to spend holidays surrounded by his loving family. He also enjoyed collecting and caring for his tropical fish. A man of few words he could still light up a room with his one liners. His favorite expression, “yeah, yeah, yeah” would give all a good laugh.
His mom and dad, Giuseppe and Angela Sciancalepore eagerly awaited his arrival in heaven along with his brother Sergio Sciancalepore and his wife Mary Louise Sciancalepore in addition to other loved ones who have passed on.
Remaining behind to cherish his memories are his brother Michael Sciancalepore and wife Maria Sciancalepore of Toms River, N.J. along with their children Joseph Sciancalepore and Carolyn Sciancalepore. Beloved niece Diana Murray and her husband Ryan Murray of Warren, N.J. Loving niece Crista Sciancalepore and her wife Colleen Sciancalepore of East Brunswick N.J. Devoted nephew Sergio Sciancalepore and his wife Christina Sciancalepore of Colonia, N.J. As well as his cherished great nephews Jackson Sciancalepore and Brendan Murray and great niece Harper Sciancalepore.
