Serafina  Maltese

Serafina Maltese, 85, of Berkeley Heights, passed away at Overlook Hospital on June 19, 2022.

Born in Bivona, Sicily Italy to parents Vincenza (Perrone) Vasile and Salvatore Vasile, Serafina came to the United States in April of 1964. She worked in the housekeeping department at Seton Hall University for 36 years before retiring.  When she wasn't hard at work she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren!

Serafina was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Maltese.  She was the loving mother of Angelo Maltese and his wife, Debbie,  Rosalie and her husband the late Mario Panepinto, Vincenza and her husband Salvatore Gano, and Josephine Maltese and fiance Giovanni Testa.

She was the sister of Carmelo Vasile and his wife Concetta, Gasper Vasile, the late Giuseppe Vasile and his late wives Giovanna and Anna, the late Vincenzo Vasile and his wife Carmela.

Serafina was the cherished grandmother of Robert and his wife Erin Panepinto, the late Christopher Panepinto, and David Panepinto, Aprilnicole Gano,  Salvatore and his wife Jessica Gano and Ceira Gano, William F. Weidele and his wife Melisa, Kristina Martins and her husband Marco Angelo Jr. and Jennifer Maltese, and Carla and Ronnie Glomb.

Serafina is also survived by 11 Great Grandchildren. Mia, Aaliyah, Coralyse and William Jr. Weidele, Allan Lawley, Salvatore Jr. Gano, and Tyler and Madison Martins, and Dylan, Jake and Chase Glomb.

Serafina is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for Serafina will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 3-7 PM at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Avenue in Union

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday June 24, 2022 9:30 AM at Holy Spirit Church in Union.

Entombment will follow at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
