Stanford  Hendershot 92, of Union, died on Wednesday August 6, 2014 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.

The funeral service will be held in the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Friday at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.

Born in Sparta, N.J. he lived in Union for 50 years. He was a pasteurizer for Tuscan Dairy in Union for 40 years, and a school crossing guard for the Twp. of Union for 15 years, retiring 10 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. serving in the South Pacific, including the battle for Iwo Jima. He was also a member of the American Legion Connecticut Farms Post # 35 in Union.

Stanford is the husband of Katherine F. (nee Weller) for 68 years. He is  the father of Roger S. and his wife Christine M, Hendershot, Jeffrey J. and the late Wayne A. Hendershot. He is also the brother of Ruth Beeson, and the late Velma Mills, as well as the grandfather of Tracy Monteiro, Darren, and Wayne Hendershot,  and the great grandfather of Kailey, Lauren, and Jordan.
