Theresa M. McHugh

Theresa M. McHugh, 91 passed away at home on August 18, 2024.

Born in Newark, she lived in Maplewood for 30 years prior to residing in Springfield for the past 30 years. Theresa dedicated her life to both her family and her career, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Theresa was a devoted office manager for oral surgeon Dr. David Eidelman in Springfield, and she worked diligently until her retirement in 2001. Theresa was a woman of poise, always put together, reflecting her grace and beauty. She shared her vibrant spirit with family and friends, enjoying hobbies that included traveling, particularly her memorable trips to Jamaica and around the Caribbean. Cooking and entertaining were also passions of hers, as she loved bringing people together to create lasting memories. Theresa will be remembered fondly by her family and friends for her elegance and the deep love she shared with all who had the privilege to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will continue to inspire those who follow.

Theresa was predeceased by her husband, William McHugh. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen McHugh; her son, William R. McHugh; her sister, Janet Befumo and her husband Andrew; and her nieces, Leigh Farina and her husband Vincent, and Michelle Soda.

A visitation will be held for Theresa on Thursday August 22, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union.

A Mass will be celebrated in her memory on Friday August 23 at 10:00am at St. James Church, located at 45 S Springfield Ave in Springfield.

Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
