Thomas J. Astone

Thomas J. Astone 59, of Newark passed away suddenly on Sunday January 8, 2012 with his loving family by his side at St. Barnabas Medical Center.


Tom was a graduate of Union Catholic High School and New York Students Art League. He was a talented sculpturer and artist. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was honorably discharged.


Being multi talented, Tom worked in the South Orange/ Maplewood School District and he was a “Jack of All Trades”.


Survived by his mother Catherine Barrett Astone, and his father Alex Astone of Union, his wife Roxanne Ciesienski Astone, his step son Thomas “TJ” Pawlowski, his brothers Michael and his wife Janice of Cranford, Patrick and his wife June of Brick, and his sister Cathie Astone De Luca and her husband Mike of Flemington. He was the Uncle of Anthony “AJ”, Kate Lynn, and Bridget De Luca, and Laura Astone.


The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Thursday at 8:30 am.


The funeral mass is at St. Michael Church in Union at 10:15 am. Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth.


Visitation is on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
