Vera Tehayel

after a year-long battle with cancer.
The daughter of Joseph and Elvira Palumbo (née DeJianne),
she was born in Newark, NJ on March 11, 1941.
She graduated from Irvington High School in 1958.
Vera’s love of learning motivated her to attend college at night until earning a bachelor’s degree
in English from Kean College in 1995.
Vera was a devoted employee of Fiske Brothers Refining Company for over 55 years,
where she held different positions,
last serving as the Sales and Technical Assistant to the Chief Marketing Officer.
She simply could not imagine retiring from the company
that had become a second family to her.
An avid reader with a penchant for Shakespeare,
she belonged to book groups at the Kenilworth and Garwood libraries,
as well as the Barnes and Noble in Springfield.
A spiritually focused woman, Vera served as a lector and Eucharistic minister
at St. Theresa’s Church in Kenilworth for many years.
Surviving are Said Tehayel, Vera’s husband of 42 years;
daughter Carla Milia and husband George; grandson Andrew Foster,
and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Josephine Marsch and Florence Jordan,
and granddaughter Angel Faith Foster.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 3-7 pm
at Galante Funeral Home (2800 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083).

at St. Theresa’s Church (541 Washington Avenue, Kenilworth, NJ 07033).

(1900 Galloping Hill Road, Kenilworth, NJ 07033).
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, the family requests donations be made to
