Vidula H. Patel

We grieve the passing and celebrate the life of Vidula H. Patel. She was born in
Ahmedabad in 1955 on November 30th. After bravely facing cancer, without complaint
or fear, she took her last breath in the morning of August 18, 2023 surrounded by her
husband, Harshadbhai and children, Akash, Himansu and Nikita. She was at once our
destination, belonging and our way: North Star, home and the nightingale for the
soundtrack of our lives. She filled all our days with rich technicolor, sometimes literally.
The gift of her paintings, songs, laughter and generosity were a rare treasure.
She lost her mother at a young age, and through her grief managed to still come of age
with grace and vivaciousness. A young, spirited and beautiful woman, she immigrated to
the Bronx and then Queens, New York in the 1980s with her husband. With the spirit of
their upbringing, and remixing the culture of an unfamiliar new place they built a home
dedicated to their children, with an ethic of work and care. She was a force, like no
woman in her generation. She drove vans, ran businesses, a catering hall, and a hotel. She
shied away from no new endeavor, work or act of service, a singularly giving woman. To
know her was to be loved by her. As she ascended from this lifetime, we sincerely hope
she will find us and we her, in the all the lifetimes to come.

Family and friends are invited at attend services for Vidula at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Sunday August 20 from 10am to 12 noon, followed by cremation at Rosedale Cemetery in Orange.
