Viola Susan DeDeo

Viola Susan DeDeo (nee Pepe), 85, of Summit, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Center of Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, surrounded by her loving family.

The funeral will be from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union, NJ on Thursday at 9 am. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Summit at 10:45 am. Interment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Born in Newark, NJ, Viola had lived in Nutley and Maplewood before moving to Summit in 1995.

She was an insurance claims processor for Ferrara & Associates Insurance Agency in Millburn. Viola loved latin dancing and was active with the Columbiettes in Springfield.

Viola was married to her late husband, Thomas Joseph DeDeo for 32 years until he passed in 1991.  Beloved mother of Kathryn Leahey and her husband Walter;  Thomas John DeDeo and his wife Teresa;  Janine Mania and her husband Joseph. Sister of Lucy Pugliese (John), Rose Pannullo (Michael), and the late Marie Faimali (Joseph), Antoinette Faiello (Frank), Anthony Pepe (Lucille), and Alfred Pepe (Claire). Sister-in-law of Marie Del Sordi (Charlie) and Pasquale DeDeo (Marianne).  Loving grandmother of Brittany Nicole and Kimberly Rose Mania, Katelyn Marie and Christina Michelle DeDeo, and Christopher Frank Selbach (Michelle). Great grandmother of Cooper and Conner. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Fortunata (nee Cicalese) Pepe.
