Violet May Addison
April 1, 1944 - April 23, 2018
Violet was born on April 1, 1944 in Saint Ann, Jamaica. In the late 1970's, she immigrated to the United States of America. After getting settled, Violet sent for her children and they joined her in Summit, New Jersey.
She worked for Automatic Interjection Molding in New Providence for a few years and Alcatel Lucent in Murray Hill for 29 years. Violet loved God; she loved life; she loved to cook; she loved to clean and she loved to take care of her family. She also had a passion for giving. She would give you the clothes off her back. She gave generously to support many of her family and friends in Jamaica for many years.
Violet is survived by her four children: Hyacinth Thorpe; Jennifer Addison; Anthony Addison and Nadine Ford. Her grandchildren Shaniece Thorpe; Nyla Martin and Natalia Hibbert. Her brothers Headley Thorpe and Clifford Thorpe; and her sister Mavis Foster.
Violet will truly be missed by all who loved and knew her. However, she wants us to understand that she is at peace and she is with God.
Visitation will be held at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Friday from 6 - 8 PM. Funeral Service is at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 140 White Oak Ridge Rd. Short Hills on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery in Summit.
