Violet Nella Ianiro (nee Petrulio) 88, of Caldwell passed away on Oct. 9, 2014.
Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Tuesday at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass is at St. Aloyisus Church, Caldwell at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation is on Sunday from 1-5 PM and on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
Violet was the wife of the late Carl; loving mother of Carla Caggiano and her husband Lou and Palma Ricciardi and her husband Joseph; beloved sister of Rosalind Pio Costa; grandmother of Joseph and Joanna Ricciardi, Lou and Carla Caggiano and Great- Grandmother of Matthew Titze. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Violet (nee Cercone) Petrulio.
Violet was born in Caldwell and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and later graduated from the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York City with a degree in fashion merchandising. After graduating, she worked for B'Altman and Hahnes in Newark; and also a boutique in Montclair before she opened her family boutique, Chez Mademoiselle in Caldwell.
Violet was a member of the Landlord Tenants Organization in Caldwell, the Women's Auxiliary at Columbus Hospital in Newark and a Vice President of the West Essex Women's' Club. She volunteered her time at St. Aloysius Church preparing meatloaf for St. Johns Parish in Newark. She had a very active social life, but especially enjoyed doing yoga and taking morning walks in the park with her dear friend Marie. She also enjoyed visiting her grand-daughter in New York City on many occasions, and loved spending time with each of her grandchildren.
