Walter George Hartman, Jr.

Walter George Hartman, Jr., 90 of Maplewood passed away on December 5, 2024.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Walt at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Sunday December 8 from 2-6 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Monday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Born in Scranton, PA, Walt lived in Newark and Kearny before moving to Maplewood in 1971, and to West Orange several years ago. A graduate of Seton Hall University, Walt entered into the US Army in 1956 as a Specialist Third Class, and honorably served until his discharge from the Reserves in 1962. He worked as an accountant for several firms prior to his retirement at age 62. A huge World War II history buff, Walt enjoyed the simpler things in life, like a hot cup of coffee, or an ice cold beer. He had fond memories of trips to Cape Cod with his beloved wife. Walt will also be remembered for his wit, and his great sense of humor.

Walt was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen "Kay" Hartman; loving father of Donna Mikolajczyk and her husband the late John, Kathleen Arcangelo and her husband Wil Sperry, Brian J. Hartman and his wife Dr. Aynn Hartman, and the late Mark B. Hartman. He was the proud grandfather of Patricia Mikolajczyk, Kathryn Mikolajczyk, Emily Arcangelo and her fiancé Vince Pallone, Michael Arcangelo, Andrew Arcangelo, Dylan Hartman and Benjamin Hartman. He was the cherished brother of Judy Paolella and her husband Sal, and Dr. Bern Hartman and his husband Stephen Braun; and and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
