Wilbert Reed 82, of Union died on Monday January 6, 2014 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.

The funeral service is in the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union, on Friday at 10 am. Interment is following in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. The visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. For directions or to send condolences visit galantefh.com.

Born in Newark he lived in Irvington, before moving to Union 20 years ago. He was a chemical operator for Essex Chemical Co. in Newark and then after that he worked for Peridot Chemical Co. in Newark for 33 years, retiring 20 years ago.

Wilbert was married to his late wife Maddalena (nee Mazzella) until she passed away in 1988. He is the father of Patricia Maharaj, Michael, Anthony, Joseph, and Samuel and Johnny Reed. He is also the brother of Richard Reed, Joyce Lembo, and Mary O'Brien, as well as the companion of Dorothy Graf, and is survived by 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
