William Imre
William Imre, 66, of Union passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation at the Galante Funeral Home located at 2800 Morris Ave in Union on Monday October 7th from 6 - 8 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 11 am on Tuesday October 8th. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.
Born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, William realized his dream when he immigrated to the United States in 1975.
William is survived by his loving wife, Amalia; his brother Peter Imre of Budapest, Hungary; his sister Maria Imre of Ruskin, Florida; his son William A. Imre of Woodbridge and four step-children; Leonardo DiGena and his wife Stephanie of Mendham ; Pietro DiGena and his wife Christine of Berkeley Heights; Angela DiGena and her husband Christopher Daugherty of Toms River and Concetta DiGena as well as eight grandchildren.
A talented machinist, William had a tireless work ethic and was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Schering-Plough in Union and later Merck pharmaceutical in Kenilworth before retiring four years ago.
He was very passionate about traveling, cooking, gardening, cars and all things Made in the USA. He loved spending time with family and friends and would never hesitate to lend a helping hand. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
