Bill was born and raised in Newark, N.J.    He also lived in Florida, Union & Springfield.  In his later years, Bill was happy to reside in New Jersey surrounded by loved ones, but Florida always remained special in his heart.  Bill would often reminisce about carefree days on the water and wonderful times with family and friends in the warm Florida sun.

Bill graduated Central High School in Newark, NJ.  Always a proponent of higher education, Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University School of Business, a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University and a CPA from the Accountancy Board of Ohio.  Bill served in the US Army as Staff Sergeant in the 304 th division.  He was a telecommunications equipment mechanic, responsible for communications – coding and encoding - and was instrumental in helping the US and Britain communicate effectively during the Korean war.  For his exemplary service, Bill received the Korean Service medal with two bronze stars, a Merit Unit Commendation, a United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.  It was in the depths of war that Bill, ever contemplative, realized his professional calling of accountancy and after his Honorable Military discharge he fervently pursued that calling.

Bill had a long and successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, serving in executive positions at several companies including Ernst & Ernst, Eastern Airlines and various utility companies. He traveled extensively with his work visiting many places including Hawaii and Costa Rica.  But Bill’s real passion was the Stock Market and he earnestly and gladly spent his days researching and studying the ever-changing Market.

An active Parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church, Maplewood NJ, Bill was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother and uncle, and his passion for the Stock Market was exceeded only by his infinite passion for helping others.  Often looked to for counsel and advice, Bill was an intent and caring listener and never hesitated in lovingly giving his all to anyone in need.  Bill touched many lives with his thoughtful, wise and heartfelt guidance and always sought to help make life better for everyone.  His devoted support will be missed by both relatives and friends.

Bill was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ivan and Agnes Skledar, and his devoted and caring wife of sixteen years before her death in 1992, Lucille Joan Skledar.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Lucille Ann Skledar, loving children Lisa O’Reilly and husband, William and Dawn Dahmer and husband, Mark, of Union, loving stepchildren, Silvia Reskow and husband Erik, Carmen Bisignano and wife Kathryn and Angela Bisignano, precious grandchildren Shawn & Brittany O’Reilly, Jessica, Stephanie, Mark & Daniel Dahmer and Carmen & Jack Bisignano, devoted sister Geraldine Wert and a host of caring nieces, nephews and cousins.
