William “Bill” R. Wright, 85, of Cranford, NJ left the station for the last time on July 19, 2016.

Funeral service at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union on Saturday at 11 AM.

Visitation Friday from 4 to 8 PM.

Cremation private.

Husband of Antoinette (nee Ialenti) for 59 years.

Father of A.J. Wright and her husband Michael Kelly and Laura “Bose” Wright.

Brother of the late Charles and Katherine Wright.

Grandfather of Christian.

Uncle of MaryAnn McTaggart (John).

William was an Uncle, Great Uncle and Great-Great Uncle to many.

Bill was born in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and moved to Cranford in 1957.

A career transportation professional, Bill was in rail marketing for over 40 years and was active on State, Regional and County transportation boards.  A tireless and effective mass transit advocate, he published numerous articles on the benefits of rail transportation.  In 2001, he was inducted into the NJ Transit Hall of Fame for his support of New Jersey’s past, present and future rail system.

Bill was a dedicated family man, avid photographer and traveler, pet lover and had a great sense of humor.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to your favorite charity in his memory.
