Zaida Caban

Zaida Caban was born on Friday, November 11, 1959 in Lares, Puerto Rico to the late Roberto and Maria Caban.  She departed this life on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 after a tough battle with ovarian cancer. She was the youngest of 10 children and in the mid-70’s she moved to New Jersey.

Zaida worked tirelessly as a home health aide for 15 years.  She dedicated her life to ensure the people she cared for were in the position to prosper.  She was a devoted mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, mother-in-law, and friend. She looked forward to family gatherings, saving room for desserts and a good laugh.  Being around her family and children gave her joy, most of all she loved watching her granddaughters blossom.  Prior to the pandemic, she could be found trying her luck on a slot machine at a casino near you.

Zaida is survived by Cristobal, Jr. (son), Jessica (daughter-in-law), Vanessa (daughter), Shazman (son-in-law), Annalis, Skylar (granddaughters), Nilda, Lydia, Delia, Elba (sisters), Roberto and Tony (brothers).  Including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish her legacy.

The memories of her smile, acts of kindness and history of going out of her way to help everyone around her will live on forever.
