Michael J. Scheid

Michael Joseph Scheid, 51 lost his admirable and dignified fight to melanoma after 4 years. He died peacefully at home on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014.

Michael grew up in West Caldwell, attended James Caldwell H.S. and lived his married life in North Caldwell. He worked at Price Waterhouse Coopers as a computer specialist and continued to use those skills to help others at any opportunity.  He also worked in home construction and inspections until his death.  Michael was an avid and loyal NJ Devils fan who never missed an exhibition or regular season game no matter what the outcome.  Michael enjoyed life to the fullest and he especially loved listening to music, attending concerts, camping, playing softball, fantasy football, flipping a burger, tending the fire, meeting and talking to new people, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Mary-Ann of 20 years, and his son, Andrew of whom he was most proud.  His father, John Walter preceded him in his death. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara, and his 8 amazing siblings, Barbara Preston(Mike), Eileen, John(Tina), Mary Zales, Ann Smith(Larry),  Kathy Broeils (Jack), Jeanne, and David (Cecelia). In addition he leaves behind brother in-laws, John Ragozine(Weslyn) and Robert Ragozine(Kim). He was an inspiring and beloved uncle to 27 nieces and nephews.

There will be a Memorial Mass at Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 10:30am.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Michael’s honor to the Melanoma Research Foundation.
